The recipient of a PhD from New York University, Dr. Derek Bryson Park draws upon nearly four decades of experience in his role as Principal of Wilmington Capital Securities, LLC / RBC. He has also served as a public servant at the federal, state, and local levels. Among other positions, Dr. Derek Bryson Park was appointed as the Director and a member of the Executive Committee of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), vested with overseeing myriad projects, including the renovation of Times Square, the expansion of the New York Stock Exchange and the designing and planned construction of two baseball stadiums for the Yankees and the Mets.

With origins dating back to the founding of the New York City Public Development Corporation in 1966, NYCEDC stands as one of the oldest and most important public development nonprofit groups in the country. Since officially becoming NYCEDC in 1991, the organization has generated billions of dollars in investment for initiatives in New York City while overseeing projects that have reshaped the urban landscape.

The organization’s current projects include the Brooklyn Cultural District initiative, which will revitalize and reshape Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood. Brooklyn has long been one of the world’s culture and arts centers, and the NYCEDC plan further encourages the arts in the borough by creating arts spaces, affordable housing, and redefined streetscapes. Among other highlights, NYCEDC has funded a new flexible performance space in cooperation with the Brooklyn Art Museum and plans to convert a parking lot into a 32-story mixed-use building that will provide space for the Brooklyn Public Library and local cultural organizations.
